About this blog

This is a course blog for English 254b, the Romantic Period, at Vanderbilt University’s English Department.  I have created this site as a friendly non-hostile discussion forum where I and my students can openly share ideas, questions, and sheer joy on any topic pertaining to Romantic writings reflecting on the end of history, literally and figuratively, then and today.  This site is NOT designed to provide information on 2012 apocalyptic predictions or the Mayan calendar but to explore how such anxieties are deeply rooted culturally and historically in an earlier modern era, 1790-1830, defined by a series of “revolutions” in politics, society, and art.  I invite all romantic enthusiasts to rate my students’ posts, offer insightful comments on them, and contribute to our free-ranging discussions.  Please feel free to follow the blog by subscribing on the lower sidebar prompt. Thank you.

Assistant Professor of English,
